

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Alice Delph, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 89 on November 17, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on July 12, 1936, in Gillette, Wyoming, Mary Alice was the beloved daughter of Marion and Ethel Russell. She was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her, a true reflection of love and grace.
Mary Alice is reunited with her devoted parents, Marion and Ethel; her beloved husband, Art; her cherished daughter, Shelley; her precious stepdaughter, Pam; and her dear nephew Jeff. She is survived by her daughter, Nita; her loving stepdaughters, Debbie (Richard) and Lynda (Curt); her beloved granddaughter, Amy (Larry); and her great-grandson, Draven. She also leaves behind her dear brother Vern (Judy), her nephew Robert (Dale), her niece Jeanne, her nephew Will (MaryAnn), her niece Diane (James), and many great-nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Mary Alice's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tucson, she found joy in her spiritual family and cherished her time spent in ladies' Bible study and luncheons every Thursday. Her love for the Lord and her community was evident in the warmth she shared with everyone around her.
Professionally, Mary Alice dedicated many years to the banking industry, retiring as a staff officer at First Interstate Bank in Tucson. In her free time, she became known for her remarkable green thumb, growing roses, gardenias, and a vibrant array of plants that brightened her home and heart. Animals held a special place in her life as well; she often generously supported animal shelters, reflecting her compassionate spirit toward all living things.
A celebration of Mary Alice's life will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 10 am, followed by a reception honoring her legacy of love. Family and close friends are invited to a graveside service at East Lawn Mortuary at 1pm that same day, where we will gather to share our memories.
In honor of Mary Alice’s deep appreciation for flowers and animals, those wishing to express their love can send plants or flowers or donate to Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) in her memory. Nita and the family are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and remembrance during this time.
As we say farewell to Mary Alice Delph, let us celebrate the light she brought into our lives. Her love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire us all.
A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 1825 N Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85712, on December 1, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
The committal service will take place at EAST LAWN PALMS CEMETERY, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712, on December 1, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
