Mary Jaque Bitner Thurston passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Joseph Thurston. She is survived by her children and son-in-law, Benjamin Thurston of Tucson and Mitty and Brian Spidell of Colorado. She is also survived by her 3 lovely granddaughters, Rebekah, Rachel and Sarah Spidell. Mrs. Thurston was employed by the TUSD and one of the first teachers in TUSD’s Teenage Parent Program. She was a 60+ year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10am at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the P.E.O. Education Loan Fund.
