Mary "Tootsie" Katherine Martinez

Mary was born and raised in Bisbee, Arizona. She and her husband Tony, of 49 years, moved from Bisbee to Tucson, Arizona in 2006. Mary was a Bisbee High School graduate.

Mary or Tootsie as she was known to her friends, was employed by Phelps Dodge Mercantile and worked in the shoe department and menswear. She later transferred to the Phelps Dodge Grocery Warehouse where she was responsible for accounts receivable and payable. Mary retired from Phelps Dodge and went on to work at Safeway in the deli department from which she also retired.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Tony, her parents William (Bill) and Mary Imrich, Sister Danitza Calicura and brother Marko (Bill) Imrich. Mary enjoyed working in her yard, doing word search puzzles, watching her game shows, going to the casino, and she loved watching her grandchildren play ball.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her sons Tony Martinez (Joy) of Tucson AZ, Victor Martinez (Karen) of Tucson, AZ and Bobby Martinez (Sydney) of Sierra Vista AZ. Sister Amelia (Emily) Maxwell of Santa Ana, CA and brother Joseph (Joe) Imrich of Safford, AZ. Grandchildren Nicholas Martinez (Ashley) of Glendale AZ, Amanda Maldonado (Cory) of Reseda CA, Kristina Valerani-Knoblich (Richard) of Sahuarita AZ, Kalynn Martinez (David) of Tucson AZ, Seth Martinez (Cierra) of Phoenix AZ and Taylor Martinez of Seattle WA and six great grandsons, Aiden, Levi, Elliott, Luka, Markus and August.

Per her wishes cremation was held in Tucson. A private family gathering will take place at a later date when her ashes are placed with her husbands at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, AZ.
