

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. Hobbs and Joyce G. Gaylord; his stepmother Elsie Hobbs; stepsister Anita Destrini, stepbrothers Delbert and James Evans, his brother Richard Hobbs and granddaughter Jasmine Grijalva, who both passed away in infancy.
He is survived by his sister, Karlene Hobbs; daughters, Stacy Hobbs and Cary Thorsen (Harold); his grandchildren, Tanika Pain (Richard), Michael Hobbs, Roxann Grijalva, Kyle Thorsen (Natasha), Zachary Thorsen (Tayven) and Makayla Thorsen; great-grandsons Ricky and Chris Pain.
After graduating from Tucson High School in 1966, Robert began his career at Duval Mine Corporation, where he worked for 18 years. In 1986, he transitioned to the Arizona Department of Corrections (AZDOC), serving as a Correctional Officer until his retirement in 2006, after 20 years of service.
In his younger years, Robert found joy in the adventures of fishing and hunting with his closest friends, where stories and laughter were as plentiful as the catch. These outings were cherished for the camaraderie and the memories made under the Arizona skies.
As his family grew, Robert, known as a gentle giant, found immense joy in hosting gatherings at his home, where he cherished moments with his entire family, creating memories filled with laughter and love. His comforting presence, kindness and strength will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his dedication to family and his warm, welcoming spirit.
A visitation for Robert will be held Friday, February 21st 2025 from 9:00 am to 9:30 am at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd, Tucson. A funeral service at 9:30 am followed by a graveside service at 10:30 am.
The family of Robert Hobbs welcomes everyone to gather at a special reception at East Lawn Palms directly after the service from 11:00am - 1:00 pm.
