He was born on March 24, 1934 in Magdalena, Sonora Mexico. The Sonora Mexican Revolution caused his family to move until they eventually settled in Arivaca. At 17 he became a Vaquero at the Nuns Ranch in Arivaca, AZ where Nuns’ took him in as family. In 1955 he enlisted in the U.S Army where he served and became a U.S. Citizen. During his enlistment was when he received letters from Maria Islas which began their courtship, and they married 1957.
Beto expressed his creativity in many ways. He made sketches of horses, cows, and other drawings of ranch living. He’s also remembered for the doodles he made of friends, and family.
He picked up an interest in carpentry, and designed many items from book shelves to study desks.
Beto loved to share the memory of the day he joined Maria to a church service. He was so moved with conviction, and that night, he confessed he needed to be baptized. He had an incredible passion for people and his faith. Beto and Maria became pastors of the Upper Room Church, Inglesia La Hermosa, and New Beginnings Evangelistic Center. Throughout the years many lives have been changed by his life and ministry.
