

Rosella “Mugsie” Carroll, 71, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, family, and a spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Rosella was born on July 12, 1953, in Tucson, AZ, to the blessed union of Fred and Lupe Carroll. Her life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering dedication.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lupe Carroll; her brother, Timothy “Timmy” Carroll; her sister, Marie “Toni” Matthews; and her son, Ernest Joseph Carroll. She leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by her son, Francisco (Lisa) Carroll Santa Cruz; her daughter, Crystal Marie De La Torre; her grandchildren, Kiante (Sara) Carroll, Angel De La Torre, Dominic De La Torre, Natalia De La Torre, and Amaris Santa Cruz; and her great-grandchildren, Carter Carroll, Charlie Carroll, and Cash Carroll. Rosella is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Dolores (Michael) Butler, Fred J. Carroll Jr., Lena (Robert) Delgado, Letitia (Pedro) Gonzales, Eileen (Jeff) Irwin, Kathleen Morgan, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
From an early age, Rosella’s deep faith shaped her path. She embraced her faith with a fervent heart and became a devoted member of the Baptist church, where she found purpose and peace in serving others. Her compassion and kindness were evident in every act, every word, and every moment she shared, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Rosella attended Pima Community College, where she earned her degree and began her career in social work. An amazing seamstress, Rosella’s hands were gifted not only with creating beautiful garments but also with stitching together the lives of those she loved. She brought creativity, care, and warmth to everything she crafted, making her work a true extension of her love for others. Her talent was surpassed only by her commitment to her family, which was the true masterpiece of her life. She found her greatest joy in the laughter of her children, the dreams of her grandchildren, and the innocent smiles of her great-grandchildren. Rosella understood that the greatest achievements in life are found in the bonds we create and the love that we share.
Her love for her family was limitless, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. Rosella had a unique way of making everyone feel valued and cherished through heartfelt conversations and shared moments of joy. She embraced life fully, finding simple delight in being a “nonnie,” baking her banana bread, making her tortillas, sewing, and being a good listener when people needed it. She enjoyed attending her luncheons and seasonal dances, where she spent time with many friends from junior high and high school, dancing with a smile that could light up any room.
Rosella Carroll was a beacon of love, a steady light in the darkest of times, and a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her impact will be felt for generations to come. As we say goodbye, we find solace in knowing that she is at peace, cradled in the immeasurable love of God, the same love she so generously shared with the world.
May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit dance in joy, and her heart be forever remembered.
