Scott Snider came to Tucson as a child following his birth in Illinois and formative years spent in Indiana. He was accompanied by his parents, Richard and Mary Jo, and his younger siblings Roger, Kim, Jeremiah, and Robin.
Scott excelled at and engaged in athletics all of his life, catching a perfect game as a teenager, caddying for a PGA pro, and frustrating his friends with his seemingly rust proof golf game. He coached boys and girls high school volleyball and golf over the course of decades and was twice awarded Arizona Daily Star Coach of the Year for volleyball in the 1990s. He also made time to coach his son's little league teams and was co-creator of Club Cactus Volleyball Club, where his daughter and son played. He was never one to lead through aggression or anger. Referees were known to tell him that if he complained about a call, then he was probably right.
An educated man, Scott earned two bachelor's degrees and a master's from the University of Arizona. He was a beloved teacher of English and physical education and spent the last years of his educational career as a librarian. It was very common for him to hear an excited, "Mr Snider!", from a former student when going around town.
Scott was a passionate fan of music and literature, accumulating enviable record and book collections over the years. He was a passionate and loving dog owner whose gentle dogs matched his calm demeanor. His dogs Strider, Sammy, and Bumblebee are surely grateful that he has joined them in the great beyond. Scott leaves behind two children, Wilson and Elise (her husband Nick), his granddaughter Lena, his mother, three siblings, and innumerable close friends, all of whom will continue to remember him the rest of their days.
