3/2/1932 – 10/28/2010
Suzanne Burk, our extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and friend lost her courageous battle with cancer, Thursday evening. Suzie was known for her sparkling energy, her petite stature with incredible strength, benevolent nature, love of politics, and her deep faith in God. Her warmth enveloped everyone she encountered, and she became a mentor, friend and second mother to many.
Suzie was born March 2, 1932, in Providence, Rhode Island to William and Blanche Morley, sister to Jacqueline Heise and Marilyn Richards Gilbert (deceased). Suzie was a devoted and wonderful wife to Davis, whom she married in 1953. She was an incredible mother and more importantly a best friend to her children, Jennifer Hassey (Ron), Bill Burk (Sarah), Melissa Wester (Roger) and Dana Hauser (Ernie).
She was a graduate of the University of Maryland and a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, where she served 15 years on the Alumni Board in many positions including being a past President. She was an active volunteer for Brewster Home, Patio Garden Club, Community Theater and PEO. Suzie enjoyed tennis, golf and was an avid bridge player. She was extremely grateful for her good friends in Tucson, Pinetop and throughout the US. Suzie will be greatly missed by all, especially by her husband, sister, four children, nieces and nephews and her eleven grandchildren: Brad, Kimberly, Vanessa, Dana, Davis, Kate, Madeline, Emma, Brent, Lily and Jack.
Words can never express the positive influence she continues to have on all of us who knew her. We love you Suzie!
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Suzie’s life, 10:00 am, on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 3738 Old Sabino Canyon Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to benefit the Patient Care Advocates Foundation, 2122 N Craycroft Road, Suite 116, Tucson, AZ 85712; or a charity of your choice.
