Thomas John Denchy, Jr.

A true baseball enthusiast, a cherished friend, family member, and lifelong cat lover, Thomas John Denchy Jr., passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2025, at the age of 59. Beloved son, brother and friend will truly be missed.

He was a fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks since their inception and loved the game, often regaling the highlights of the last game he had seen. Thomas found immense joy in the companionship of cats and dedicated himself to fostering a deep connection with these beloved creatures. He embraced cats as family, offering unconditional love and care. He often shared stories about their unique personalities and playful antics of his feline companions, Garfield, Cali, Baby Kitty and Tiger to name a few. He was known for providing a safe and loving home for cats in need, in particular the Momma cat that would come around as she was about to have her litter. Thomas would care for both her and her kittens until they were able to go off on their own. He would feed and care for the cats in his neighborhood at every opportunity, even taking some into his home to make them his own. Thomas was known for his wit, making everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Another passion Thomas had was in food service. His warm and inviting personality, making everyone feel comfortable and at ease, prompted customers to regularly return and ask for him, specifically, so they could enjoy their time out. He loved being around people and serving everyone with a smile.

Thomas was born in, and lived in, Arizona most of his life having gone to Donaldson Elementary School, Cross Junior High School, Canyon Del Oro High School and graduating from Suffolk Hills Catholic High School in 1983. Thomas also attended Northern Arizona University until he found his calling in food service.

Thomas is survived by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Karen, his siblings, Robert and Suzette and his niece Alicia.

Anyone who knew Thomas is welcome at his graveside service which is being held at East Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday April 22nd at 10:30 AM.
