

In 1955 his family moved from Chicago,Illinois to Albany, NY and he graduated from South Colonie High School in 1961. He met his beloved wife H. Louise Butler in 1964 and they were married on 7/24/65.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Marie Finton, his sister Pamela Finton and Louise, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by his children Christine Perez (Jimmy), Jeanine Finton, Thomas R. Finton, Jr. and his grandchildren Jennifer Freeman (Taylor), Sierra Perez (Brent), Janay Curry, Noah Curry and his sister Trella R. Finton. His sister-in-laws Olga Butler (Frank), Linda Butler (Robert), and brother-in-law Donald Butler (Michele) and many nephews and nieces and great nieces and nephews along with his close friends to name a few; Charlie Tuttle, Pat and Paul Parsley, Buddy and Anita, and his dog Oliver.
Tom worked at Tobin Packing Co. until 1980 when the plant closed, and then worked for United Cerebral Palsy in transportation and Unity House of Troy Inc. Tom and Louise relocated to Tucson in 2001 to be closer to his children and he said he wanted to be able to wear shorts year round ( which he did). He retired from the Vail School District as a bus driver in 2004. He was a die hard Chicago Bears fan and loved watching football which was his favorite life time passion. Everyone knew not to call him when the games were on; he was not going to talk to you during the football game. He loved camping and belonged to the Associated Traveling Characters camping club. Louise would have everything packed and ready to go by the time Tom got home on Friday afternoons after work and off the family would go, camping almost every weekend from May till October.
Tom was a Volunteer Fireman at the Shaker Road Loudonville Fire Department for numerous years and was a social member until his passing. Tom volunteered for the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration as a greeter for three years from 2017-2020, which he felt honored to be able to help the veterans in any small way. He stated he was known as the candyman due to the fact that he always brought candy to hand out to people. Tom's family was his pride and joy and was a kindhearted man. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
