He is survived by wife, Geri, son Eugene Shumate (Seda), daughter Janice Newman (Charles), step-daughters, Karen Bever (Gary), Patricia Lever (John), Mary Jo Groves (David), Denice Gelineau (Thom), grandchildren Daniel Newman (Melinda), David Newman (Lori), Sonia Venter (Adriaan), four great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and eleven step-great grandchildren.
He was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, having served sixty years. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM, at East Lawn Palms Mortuary; 5801 E. Grant Road.
