Alice C. Laffey lived her life adventurously and with lots of love! A favorite story about Alice is when she was 84, she went with friends to the Puyallup State fair. She spotted a roller coaster, and said she wanted to ride it! So Alice and her friend did just that, with mom holding her hands in the air and having a blast! She was fearless!
Another story is when she went with Tom and her daughter Linda, to visit New England in the fall. Those leaves were amazing! During the trip they visited New York City and she and Linda decided they wanted to walk up a bazillion steps inside the Status of Liberty to the crown (not sure if you can even do that these days). After they came down, their legs could hardly function, felt like rubber…ouch! Stairmaster extreme!
Alice was born in Berea, Ohio on October 3, 1928. She passed peacefully from cancer on February 4, 2020, in her daughter and son-in-law’s home – a home she shared with them for over 13 years. She had many careers over her lifetime: Costume Wardrobe Manager for the Pasadena, CA Dept of Recreation, several secretarial positions for insurance companies and a non-profit ministry, and finally she especially enjoyed partnering with the love of her life, Tom Laffey, as they worked in the real estate field for many years.
Alice was married to Tom for 36 years, and missed him terribly when he passed in 2006. She is survived by her five children from her previous marriage, and Tom’s 3 children from his previous marriage. She has 14 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 21, at 11 am at True Grace Church, 5615 30th Ave SE, Lacey 98503, with a reception to follow.
