Alleen Faye Morrison, 58, of Elma WA passed away on February 7th, 2024, after a heroic battle with lung cancer that lasted 3 years. Beloved by all who met her, and especially cherished by her large family, her passing has left a deep wound. Her life brought immeasurable joy to those who knew her.
Alleen was born on December 30, 1965 to Zane Berg and Luella Berg-Hattan in Enumclaw, Washington. The youngest of six children in a loving and blended family, Alleen grew up in Littlerock, WA and was the baby amongst 'all you kids.'
Growing up in a dairy farm household, Alleen knew and exemplified hard work for her entire life. She started working at the age of 16, bussing tables a The Tyee, then went on to Valley Nut & Bolt, and DaPaul Logging Company (where she met her husband Larry). Known for her reliability, outstanding customer service, and infectious laugh, she was sought after by Tumwater Les Schwab Tire Center, where she enjoyed a lifelong career until her retirement.
Alleen's hard work and grit were eclipsed by her big heart. A dedicated mother, wife, sister, daughter, niece, cousin, aunt, Grammy and friend, Alleen ALWAYS gave of herself and worked to bring support and joy into people's lives. She welcomed her daughter Christine into the word at the age of 20, and married Larry Arthur Morrison on April 23, 1988. Alleen's family was the most important thing to her, and she was the rock and anchor for many.
It is hard to put into words the deep and lasting effect her life made. She had this incredible gift of instantly connecting with people. You could meet her as a total stranger and walk away feeling refreshed, like you just reconnected with your oldest friend. She was a loved member of her community: a thundering voice behind the fastpitch backstop, a second mom to many, a pillar of Elma and Tumwater Les Schwab branches. She was the one who would show up for you in the middle of the night when you needed someone. The one who would join you on the dance floor. The one who would bring optimism to the worst situations. To say she was a dog lover would be an extreme understatement. She LOVED babies; no baby was safe from her fawning. And HER LAUGH. Her laugh was the best. We will alway remember her laugh.
After her cancer diagnosis, Alleen refused to stop enjoying life. Throughout her marathon of treatments she lived life to the fullest by going on multiple trips, visiting family, and spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and granddaughter Isabell. Although we are heartbroken by her passing, it was truly inspiring to witness her walk through her cancer journey with a level of positivity, perseverance, and faith that most people struggle to find even in the best of times. She was the best of us, and we miss her deeply.
Alleen is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Christine, Granddaughter Isabell, step son Jeff, and his two children Arthur and Padme, siblings Debra, Pamela, Twila, Rick, and Colleen, and an expansive extended family and community of friends.
