We watched our father Arthur (Art) Romero take his final breath in this life on Saturday August 12th at the family home in Olympia. Arthur was born on May 3rd 1925 in Rawlins, Wyoming. He was the only son of Esteban (Steve) Romero and Josefita (Josie) (Trujillo) Romero. He was preceded in death by his parents, and our mother, his wife of 64 years, Connie (Consuelo) (Espinoza) Romero and our older brother, Arthur Stephen.
Arthur enlisted in the US Navy at the age of seventeen and served his country during WWII in the Pacific. In Wyoming he worked as an engineer at the Sinclair Oil Refinery and operated a small family run grocery store.
Art moved the family to Washington State in September 1966. We lived in Vancouver, Washington, for the first two years and in Olympia since 1968. He was a certified public accountant and attended several colleges over the years before obtaining a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Puget Sound. Art worked as an auditor for Washington State Employment Security and the Department of Transportation. He was a comptroller for Grays Harbor Community College and a budget analyst for the City of Seattle.
Art is survived by two sisters (Deliah Valencia and Mary Ann Garcia), two sons (Augustine and Frank), three daughter-in-laws (Rebel, Laine and XiaoMin), a granddaughter Lisa, a grandson Dominic, three great-grandchildren (Taylor, Quincy and Landon) and countless nephews, nieces and cousins.
