Carl (Butch) Williams, age 67, passed away on May 24, 2026. He was born to Herman Williams Jr. and Kazuko Williams on August 28 in Barstow, CA. Butch graduated from Lakes High School and proceeded to attend Pacific Lutheran University, where he played basketball and met the love of his life, Sue Williams. Butch and Sue celebrated 45 years together and greatly enjoyed their 38 years of marriage.
Butch was well-known as an athlete, coach, mentor, and friend. He proudly served as a stay-at-home dad to raise his children when they were young before returning to work in sales and coaching. He loved helping young men grow their athletic abilities and providing mentorship for all he encountered.
His big smile and quick wit immediately captured all who met Butch. He loved to be silly and found humor in all situations. Butch loved a great meal, spending time with family, sneaking treats to his “grand puppies,” and gathering with his large group of lifelong friends.
Butch will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a few weeks shy of meeting his first grandson but found great joy in preparing for his arrival. Butch is survived by his son, Alex Williams (Leanna) of Chicago, and his daughter, Amanda McCarthy (Travis) of Olympia.
Butch was an unforgettable man who was well-loved by many. He is reunited with his loving wife in heaven and will be missed by his loved ones greatly.
A service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at Mills and Mills Funeral Home 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA 98512 beginning 2 p.m. with a light reception to follow.
