29 December , 1961 – 13 October , 2019
David Owen Swope, 57, of Tumwater Washington passed away on October 13, 2019 in his home with loved ones after a short battle with cancer. He fought with dignity and honor.
Dave was born in Issaquah Washington on December 29, 1961 to Robert Swope and Helen Harvard-Swope. Dave was the middle of 3 children. Dave is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, and step son. Dave loved his childhood and always said he had “the all American family”.
Dave grew up and attended school in Issaquah Washington. He graduated from North Thurston High School in 1980. Dave took some college courses at Bellevue Community College and worked many different jobs through his years. Dave found his place at The Home Depot in Tumwater where he worked for 15 years. Dave worked at the PRO Desk and will be missed greatly by his contractors and work family.
He touched many lives and will always be remembered for his infectious laugh and sense of humor. Living a very simple and humble life Dave found solace in his loved ones and helping others. His love for vintage cars was his passion and he loved sharing his knowledge with others. He spent time fishing, kayaking, ‘payday Fridays at the Brick’ and ‘Sunday Casino Nights’ with friends, charting numbers and playing the lotto. Dave had a great appreciation of nature and the beauty that surrounds us all.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Mills and Mills in Tumwater Washington Friday November 15th at 2pm, grave side dedication at 3pm, and a reception at 4p (TBA at the service).
In lieu of flowers, Dave’s wishes are that you pay it forward. Support others in need. Give to an animal rescue or cancer research. Buy a lotto ticket. Do something good for others.
Find your peace and make memories. Dave’s legacy will live on through all of those who his life touched.

When David and I met for the first time , he brought me a bouquet of flowers, and he brought my/our son a pizza....he knew it was his favorite. That was the best day for all of us. When he told about his illness and that he was dying.....I couldn't say anything at first, I just held him for a bit. David I am glad your out of pain and that your with our son. I shall see you both again one day. Keep smiling
I love you both so much and miss you terribly. You'll always be in our hearts and thoughts. RIP

When I had first found out I was pregnant with my son. Dave took me and his step son Mark under his own wing. We stayed for about 8 months or so. Dave always had a great since of humor.
When Dave told me that he was dying I didn't wanna believe it. His step my boyfriend\sons dad just had passed away a lil over a year ago. I told myself this cant be happening... I ended up distancing my self from him... I wish that I would have visited him alot more. Dave was an amazing guy... We miss him very much.
You will always be in our hearts. Love always and forever.
