She was born in Detroit, MI to George Coombes and Doris (Winter) Henry. She grew up in Moclips, WA and graduated with honors from North Beach High School in 1991. She received her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Tacoma Community College. Dawn worked in the medical field as a Pharmacy Technician and was admired by her co-workers for her “git ‘er done” attitude and great sense of humor. She was a master at deciphering doctors’ messy handwriting and counting pills at lightning speed. She prided herself in her work and was compassionate towards her patients.
Dawn was extremely fond of animals and volunteered at the animal shelter. She adopted many orphans over the years and loved them immensely. She was a great mother to them. She enjoyed scuba diving, travelling to tropical locations, skeet and target shooting, boating, fishing and her Stihl chainsaw. Dawn loved her family and friends fiercely.
She leaves behind her partner Bjorn Beech; mother, Doris (Winter) Henry and step father Jim Henry of Seattle; sisters Angela (Coombes) Vanier of Olympia and Kristina (Coombes) Hodges of Soldotna, AK; nieces Abby, Khristian and Elizabeth Vanier; nephew Joshua Hodges; and her beloved pig Lucy and dog Moose.
She was preceded in death by her father George Coombes.
A memorial service will be held at Mills and Mills, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, on Wednesday, June 26th at 2 pm with a reception immediately following.
