

Deborah “Debbie” Anne Harvey, 65, of Olympia, passed away December 6, 2017 after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was born in Olympia, Washington on November 13, 1952 to John and Helen Lucille Salapka. Deborah Anne Salapka graduated from Olympia High School in 1971 and began her career with the State of Washington in 1975. In the early 1980’s she met her husband and on September 1, 1992 she married John Harvey. Deborah worked tending bar at the Boulevard Tavern in Olympia during her early years where she formed everlasting relationships. In 2002, Debbie retired from her career as an administrative assistant with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources but she never left her work family behind.
Debbie loved to spend time camping (glamping) at the Harvey camp area in Packwood. She spent her springs and summers around campfires with friends and family. She was an avid reader. She was a Seahawks fan to the core. Most of all, Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved Yorkie, Jazzie. She was a wife, a sister to two older brothers, a stepmother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and great, great-aunt.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Jim. She is survived by her husband, John, her brother John Salapka (wife Sandra), her stepchildren John, Jr. (wife Adeles) and Brandon Harvey (Ashlee Day), her grandchildren Evin and Wyatt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Olympia, Washington with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Providence Regional Cancer Care Center or to the First United Methodist Church @ 1224 Legion Way SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
