January 27, 1943 – May 10, 2025
Delwin (Del) Myron Wiedenmeyer, a man whose steadfast faith and constant care for others defined his life, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 82 following a hard-fought battle against several health problems. He was surrounded by family he loved so deeply.
Born on January 27, 1943, in Beulah, North Dakota, to Otto and Magdalena (Hornberger) Wiedenmeyer, Del was raised in the small town of Zap, ND. He graduated from Beulah High School in 1961. After meeting Mavis C. Mindt in 1958, she became the love of his life and the two were married on April 2, 1963. This began their life together that has been marked by deep devotion, faith, mutual support, and lasting love.
Del enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. After his service, he began a long and respected career with Boeing, where he worked as a general manager and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
Del's retirement years were filled with the things he loved most: working with his hands doing woodwork, cheering on car races, and cherishing every moment he could with his family. A man of quiet strength and dependable presence, he was always checking in on those around him, offering encouragement, a helping hand, or a heartfelt prayer.
Del’s legacy lives on in the lives of his beloved family: his wife of 62 years, Mavis C. (Mindt) Wiedenmeyer; his children Jeffery & Tamra (Hunt) Wiedenmeyer of Jamestown, ND, Melissa (Wiedenmeyer) & Steven Barr of Woodinville, WA, and Ryan & Laurie (Ripley) Wiedenmeyer of Olympia, WA.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Joshua (Nicole), Nathan, Anika (Ben), Judah, Keturah (Alex), Taleiya, Josiah, Jianna, Jonessa, and Jayden. He was excited to welcome two new grandchildren through marriage this summer. His heart expanded even further as he became a great-grandfather to Hezekiah and Hosanna, and greatly anticipated his next great-grandchild later this year.
He was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by Eric, Hildegard, Delora, Wilbert, Norma, LaVerne, and Elna. Del was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, each of whom he held close in his heart.
Del’s life was a testament to love, faith, service, and family. His gentle spirit, wise counsel, mischievous laugh, and unwavering presence will be dearly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held in his Del’s honor on June 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm at The Church at Monroe, 16910 161st Ave SE, Snohomish, WA 98290. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Del’s honor to The Church at Monroe or to perform acts of service in the community or your local church in his memory.
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’” – Matthew 25:21
