Marsha (Brown), Randy and Rick Briggs would like family and friends to take a moment to remember their mother, Marie Briggs. Dorcas Marie Foulon was born to Joel and Elida Foulon on May 7, 1924, in the small Eastern Washington town of Bridgeport. She had three brothers; Louis, Web and Max Foulon, who all preceded her in death. Our mother grew up in a family of teachers which greatly influenced her to partake in this same, honored profession. She graduated from the now Eastern Washington University and then immediately boarded a train for the then, long trip West to her first teaching assignment in Hoquiam. After a Hoquiam v. Aberdeen football game she went on a blind date and met our father, the late Marshall Briggs. They soon married and with mom teaching and dad working for the phone company they chased better jobs and life with a move to the town of Raymond. They lived in Raymond for many years, which is where we were born. While dad was mayor and civic leader, mom taught primary grades for so long that she found herself teaching many sets of children of prior students. Mom and dad always loved the water with over time building second homes near the ocean, lakes and rivers. They retired to Lake Nahwatzel, which was their second time living on that lake, a place we are certain always held a special place in their hearts. Mom greatly loved her seven grandchildren (Scott, Lisa, Tyson, Travis, Marisa, Clark and Aaron) and four great grand children (Jake, Peyton, Logan and Cooper). Mom and dad always lead by example, teaching us the value of hard work and compassion towards others. In 2006 we said a sad goodbye to dad, on November 19th we said our last goodbyes to mom. They are now reunited and may they both Rest in Peace.
