
Tsgt James (Jim) Daniel Braun (Ret) was born on August 22 in 1934 in Martinez California. When Jim was about two years old his family moved to Centralia, Washington and then to Kirkland, Washington where he attended high school.
Jim worked as a pin setter at a local bowling alley while in high school prior to joining the Air Force.
In June of 1952 at age of 17, Jim joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for over twenty years. Jim
was stationed in multiple countries during his career to include England, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan, New Zealand and Austrailia.
Jim also served three tours of Vietnam and survived multiple attacks on his base.
Jim started his career in the Air Force as a crew chief on P-51's and due to his drive and natural abilities with aircraft was in great demand throughout the world. Jim was also one of the few that was selected to work on the then top secret SR-71 Blackbird. While working on the Blackbirds at Beale AFB Jim underwent private pilot training. He continued his love of airplanes and flying throughout his retirement and used his keen eye for detail with his additional love of photography. Jim especially enjoyed the last years of his life pursuing his love of photography and nature while living next to his sister Lillian overlooking the Salish Sea in Olympia. He spoke fondly of his morning coffees with his sister Lillian and her friends, which he enjoyed very much.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Ordena Daniels of Olympia and his brother Walter (Buzz) Braun of Tacoma.
Jim is survived by his son Scott Braun and wife Sharon of Lynn Haven, Florida. Two grandson's Aaron and Adam Braun also of Lynn Haven. Jim is also survived by loving sisters Lillian Stookey of Olympia, Washington and Velda Argyle of Palm Springs, California. Jim is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews in Washington, Oregon, and California.
