With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Marie Nelson, a vibrant soul who graced this world with her presence for 83 beautiful years. Born on March 3, 1940, Joyce was a beacon of joy known for her spunky larger than life personality, and boundless passion for helping others. Her infectious zest for life touched the hearts of everyone she encountered, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an unstoppable spirit.
Joyce was a cherished mother of five and the loving wife of Roger, who sadly passed away in 2017. She faced the tough moments, losing two of her beloved children, David and Terri leaving gaps in our hearts.
Beyond her roles as a mother and wife, Joyce dedicated herself to a lifelong career as a compassionate nurse, leaving an indelible mark of care and empathy on those she served.
One of Joyce's absolute delights was her furry sidekick companion, Harley. They strolled through the neighborhood daily, spreading joy and laughter like confetti. A Seahawks superfan, Joyce flaunted her team gear with flair! Oldies tunes provided the soundtrack to her spontaneous adventures. Gardening, painting rocks with her grandchildren, and camping at the Cowlitz River were cherished moments in her vibrant life.
Beyond her vibrant personality, Joyce dove into community initiatives like the annual Toy Run, infusing them with her boundless energy and enthusiasm. Recently, she earned the title of a "pool shark" at the senior center she volunteered at, keeping her friends and family on their toes with her exceptional skills.
While Joyce has said farewell to all of us snapdragons, let's keep the positive energy flowing by cherishing the awesome memories she left in our hearts. Remember her with a big smile, lots of gratitude, and a commitment to celebrating the joy she brought into our lives.
Wishing Joyce's soul eternal peace, and may the legacy she left behind continue to inspire love and kindness in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Survived by her loving family, Joyce's memory will always be held dear by her sister, Ellen, daughters, Lori, Dena, and Juli, and her grandchildren, Jake, Megan, Joel, Danielle, and McKenzie and great- grandchildren. Together, they find solace in the cherished memories, holding onto the warmth of laughter and the love that Joyce poured into each of their hearts.
A graveside burial ceremony will take place on Friday, January 26th from 12:00 - 12:30 pm, at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA 98512. And the celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 1:30 pm, Scott Lake Community Center, 2631 114th Way SW, Olympia, WA 98512
