

Luci was my mother. She was a Daughter, Sister, Grandmother and a beloved Wife. We all know this. We also know how she was funny, caring and passionate sweet, and beautiful. She was the remember of birthdays and could talk your ear off for hours. She loved People magazine, animals, Judge Judy, and fancy expensive purses that she sometimes hid from Dad. But the one thing that made her heart overflow with joy was her family. I could stand here for hours reciting inside family stories such as Melvin Karlinkski throwing up on her the first day at a new school or her one summer charging hamburgers for all her friends on Grandpas charge account at the Army base pool. Each one of us here in this room has many stories we could tell. But I am going to be a little selfish and talk about Luci as my Mother.

Abraham Lincoln once said “No man is poor who has a Godly Mother”.  Was my Mother perfect? Certainly not. But even if we remove all the ups and downs she endured in her full life, there was still the daunting task of raising me. I was there and I still have no idea how she did it!  And then did it again with my brother. No matter what we did wrong, she loved us. She supported us and as most of you know, she bragged about us.

A Spanish Proverb states: “An ounce of a mother's heart is worth a pound of clergy.” My Mother would always listen. But it seemed that she would never give the advice I wanted to hear. The advice she gave was most often correct. A quote from Mark Twain sums it best for both my Brother and me, “My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.”

I will miss the laughter, the hugs, and yes even the stern looks from my Mother.

Some of the best memories of my childhood were spent with the Roberts family. I will always remember Luci's sense of humor and kind heart, we had so many "inside" jokes. I can never visit Ocean Shores without thinking of her and all the fun we had there. Thank you for all the great times and memories, you will always be mom to me. I will miss you and think of you always. Much love to the whole family, I know you are all very strong and will carry on through this difficult time. I was truly blessed to be a part of her life.

Around noon my first day at DCS HQ in 1991, Luci came to my cube and said, "Hi, I'm Luci. You're new here and we're going to lunch together."  When we returned she said, "You're sarcastic, I don't think we can be friends any more."  Then she burst out laughing.  I realized then I had been admitted to the inner sanctum of her love and friendship and I have remained there for the past 22 years.  What a joy it has been. We've had our ups and downs together (about the same people) but always came out laughing.  I think she is having the last laugh because she is experiencing what we will one day experience and she is waiting for us. Tom, Rich, and Greg, the last 10 years have been so challenging for her and you.  She told me so many times how much she loves you.  As I ask her to bless all of us, in God's name I bless the three of you.

I will miss Luci.  She was a friend and always enjoyed talking to her at work.  To her family I am truly sorry for your loss.  My prayers will be with you.

So sorry to hear of luci's passing.  even tho' I've been retired for 11 years, I remember Luci and her sweet personality.  My condolences to all.

Luci and I covered each others caseloads in both Unit D and the out of state Unit.
She was a delight to work with. I have many fond memories, most important of which is how much she loved her family, She was so proud of you all.

Luci was a woman that people would never forget. She loved deeply. I will never forget her. For her family my thoughts will be with you during this difficult time. If I still lived in Washington I'd be there for the service. There is no doubt that the loving arms of our Lord is wrapped around her.

To all of Luci's family, I am sorry to hear about your loss.  Luci always wanted to help everyone at the office and I know she will be missed.

I worked with Luci at L&I and she was one of the most sweetest ladies I have ever known. She always had a smile and such a huge heart of gold. She will be missed by so many but will always be a big part of my memory.

Sweet, kind Luci ~ you were such a wonderful, beautiful person.  I am so blessed to have known you.   Peace be with your family.
