Margaret was born, professed, met and married Lyle, the love of her life here on the farm affectionately known as Sweet Briar Farm, homesteaded by her parents in 1901. She and Lyle made their home in Olympia where they raised their three sons. In 1963, they moved back to the farm to care for Margaret’s parents and continue Olympia Convention, which began in 1927. She lived the rest of her life here on the farm.
She graduated from Olympia High School and Knapp Business College. She was employed by the Western Farmers Co-op, the State of Washington, and was a partner in business with Lyle. Margaret was a dedicated mother and homemaker; active in her son’s schools, scouting, and sports. She was secretary of the Olympia March of Dimes and organizer of the Mothers March fundraising for many years. Being a nature lover she loved trees, flowers, and animals; and especially enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels from her window. Above all Margaret lived her faith, cherished her friends in Christ and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
