

age of 78. He was the son of Ike and Mary Ogle of Olympia, graduated from Olympia
High School and attended Washington State University. He served in the Navy and the
Reserves for four years before going to work for the Washington State Department of
Transportation where he worked for 30 years. After a brief retirement, he worked for
Safeway for 10 years before retiring in 2000.
Richard married his wife Ila in December 1960. They were married for 55 years at the
time of his death. He was an avid reader, particularly when it came to history. He could talk
for hours about every major military battle or historical figure. He loved working in his yard,
listening to music and enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family.
He had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife Ila, his son Mark and daughter-in-law Sandy Ogle of Springfield, Oregon,
two grandchildren, David Ogle of Portland and Ashley Olsen of Springfield, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest son Rob Ogle, who passed away in 2014.
