William Harry “Bill” Cahill was born on July 1, 1953, in Olympia, Washington, to James Elmer Cahill and Ethel Bernice Mieirs. Bill was the second of six children and grew up surrounded by a lively and close-knit family. Bill attended North Thurston High School where he graduated in 1971 and participated in football and baseball. After high school, Bill went on to work for the Washington State Department of General Administration where he served for 30 years. During this time he met and married the love of his life, Vicki, who proved to be his perfect match.
After retiring, Bill and Vicki purchased their dream property in Lilliwaup, Washington. Over the years, Bill became deeply involved in the Colonial Surf homeowner’s association and proudly served as its president for many years. Together, Bill and Vicki turned their cabin into a warm and welcoming sanctuary for family and friends.
Many Fourth of July celebrations and backyard barbecues were held at their place in Lilliwaup, where laughter and good company were always plentiful. Bill’s happy place was his woodshop, where he enjoyed turning rounds of wood into beautiful, handcrafted pieces that he generously shared with family and friends.
Bill had a deep love for the outdoors and treasured time spent hunting at Metheny Ridge and Mt Saint Helen’s with his dad, brothers, uncles and other hunting buddies. These trips created many lasting memories and stories that would be shared for years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; his five siblings Kathy, Mary, Steven, Dan, and John; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Bill will be remembered for his big personality, his warm heart, and his ability to make a friend wherever he went. With a smile and a bit of humor, he often referred to himself as “Hillbilly Bill,” a nickname that perfectly reflected his playful spirit and love for making people laugh. No services are planned for Bill at this time.
