It is with a heavy heart but also with deep gratitude for his fulfilled life that we share the news of the passing of Antonio Fernando Azevedo, at the age of 71, on Monday, June 30, 2025. Coming from the beautiful Ribeira Seca, São Jorge, Açores, Mr. Azevedo embarked on a brave journey to the United States with dreams of a brighter future for his family - a dream he indeed turned into a reality with his remarkable dedication and hard work.
Mr. Azevedo was the embodiment of true values and quiet strength, always emphasizing the importance of discipline, integrity, and putting family first. He found joy in the simple things - being outdoors, taking part in community events, and enjoying wonderful times with family and friends. His passing leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and commitment that will forever inspire his family and everyone lucky enough to have known him.
He leaves his beloved wife Maria Azevedo, his sons, Paulo Azevedo (Nicolette), Carlos Azevedo (Jennifer Thomas), Antonio Azevedo (Melissa), and Joao Azevedo (Stefanie); his grandchildren, Eisley, Jovie, Zoey, Hailey, Edith, and Haven; his grandsons, Andrew, Anthony, Luke, Levi, Logan, and Lawson; his sisters, Maria Judite Gomes Azevedo da Silveira, Maria Idalina Gomes Azevedo Olveira, Maria Leonor Gomes Azevedo Freitas, and Sandra Fatima Borges Matos; and his brothers, Manuel Izalino Gomes Azevedo, Jose Alvarino Gomes Azevedo, Eduardo Lizuarte Gomes Azevedo, Jose Luis Gomes Azevedo, Joao Valdemiro Gomes Azevedo, Paulo Jorge Gomes Azevedo, and Armando Manuel Gomes Azevedo to cherish his memory.
His parents, Antonio Bento and Maria Alice Azevedo, preceded him in passing.
We warmly invite family and friends to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, July 12, 2025, starting with a viewing at 9:00 am, followed by the recitation of the Rosary and the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 20263 American Avenue, Hilmar, CA 95324. The burial will take place immediately after at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.
António Fernando Azevedo, de 71 anos, residente em Merced, Califórnia, faleceu na segunda-feira, dia 30 de junho de 2025, no Mercy Medical Center em Merced. Viveu os ultimos 34 anos em Merced.
Nascido na freguesia da Ribeira Seca, ilha de São Jorge, Açores, era filho de António e Maria Azevedo.
O Sr. Azevedo deixa de luto a sua esposa, com quem foi casado durante 46 anos, Maria Azevedo, de Merced, Califórnia; os seus filhos Paulo Azevedo (Nicolette), Carlos Azevedo (Jennifer Thomas), António Azevedo (Melissa), todos de Atwater, Califórnia, e João Azevedo (Stefanie), de Merced, Califórnia. Deixa também as suas irmãs Maria Judite Gomes Azevedo da Silveira, Maria Idalina Gomes Azevedo Oliveira, Maria Leonor Gomes Azevedo Freitas e Sandra Fátima Borges Matos, bem como os seus irmãos Manuel Izalino Gomes Azevedo, José Alvarino Gomes Azevedo, Eduardo Lizuarte Gomes Azevedo, José Luís Gomes Azevedo, João Valdemiro Gomes Azevedo, Paulo Jorge Gomes Azevedo e Armando Manuel Gomes Azevedo, todos residentes nas ilhas dos Açores. Deixa tambem as suas netas Eisley, Jovie, Zoey, Hailey, Edith e Haven, os seus netos Andrew, Anthony, Luke, Levi, Logan e Lawson, e muitos outros familiares e amigos.
Foi precedido na morte pelos seus pais, António e Maria Azevedo.
O velório será no sábado, dia 12 de julho de 2025, às 9:00 horas da manhã, seguido da recitação do Terço e da Missa de Corpo Presente às 10:00 horas da manhã, na Igreja Católica do Santo Rosário, 20263 American Avenue, em Hilmar, Califórnia, 95324, seguindo-se o enterro no cemitério Turlock Memorial Park, 575 da N. Soderquist Rd, em Turlock, Califórnia, 95380.
