Edward was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on September 6th, 1960 to Edwardo and Cela Samarripa who were native to Texas. Shortly after his birth the family moved back Uvalde, Texas and later to Patterson, California where he graduated Patterson High School. It was his time spent in Texas that made him a proud Texan in heart and spirit.
Though reserved in nature, Mike formed deep and lasting bonds with those few who became close to him, those relationships stood the test of time.
Mike was an avid sports enthusiast having been a phenomenal high school baseball and football player. Sports held a special place in his heart because he grew up playing sports with his siblings. His favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, and the Oakland A’s. One of his favorite pastimes was relaxing with a cold beer and watching a game.
Mike was also known to always be out and about and enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be a backyard BBQ or simply soaking in the sun of the city.
Throughout his career, Mike was known for his strong work ethic, traits that earned him respect and admiration from colleagues.
Above all, Mike treasured his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took immense pride and joy in their lives and accomplishments.
He leaves behind his children Michael Samarripa, Marcus Samarripa, Cassandra Samarripa, and Matthew Samarripa, his stepchildren Claudia Covarrubias and Hector Gonzalez, his grandchildren Cohen Samarripa, Cristian James Davin, Lacandra Angeles, Cinthia Sarmiento, Ernesto Covarrubias Jr, and Mia Covarrubias, Adrian Gonzalez, and his siblings Rose Marie Samarripa, Elsie Mata, Helen Molina, Celia Virgen, Bill Samarripa, and Larry Samarripa.
He was preceded in death by his son Edward Samarripa, his parents Edwardo and Celia Samarripa, and his sister Guadalupe Zepeda.
Edward Michael Samarripa will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of loyalty, love, and Texan pride will live on in the hearts of many.
