Lawrence David Rose was born on October 12, 1940, in Turlock, California, and passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born in Turlock and never went very far from it. It was home, and he was perfectly content building his life right where it began.
For 61 years, Lawrence was married to his loving wife, Brenda. Together they built a steady, faithful life centered on family. He is survived by Brenda; his son, Chris Rose (Victoria); and his grandsons, Matthew Rose, Parker Rose, Colton Cline, and Andrew Davis; his great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Michele Rose; his grandson, Austin Cline; his father, Joaquin Dutra Rose; his mother, Augusta Rose; and his brother, Joaquin Rose.
Lawrence was happiest with tools in his hands. He could often be found tinkering on cars, fixing what needed fixing, and improving what already worked just fine. He had a natural mechanical mind and a patience for figuring things out.
As a teenager, he discovered his passion for amateur radios and began building them himself. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong interest. He was a longtime member of the Turlock Amateur Radio Club, where he connected with others who shared his enthusiasm and skill.
He loved camping, being outdoors, and off-roading, loading up and heading out, enjoying the quiet and the open space. He did not need much to be happy: a project to work on, a radio signal to tune in, or a dirt road to follow.
Lawrence lived a steady and practical life, rooted in family, community, and the things he enjoyed most. He leaves behind the kind of legacy that doesn’t make a lot of noise, but keeps working, steady and strong, just like the radios he built.
