Luis was the youngest of three born to Manuel and Ermezinda Silveira on November 9, 1971 in Angola, Africa. He came to California with his parents and two sisters, Fatima and Teresa to escape the war in 1977. Turlock was the place he called home and made a life for himself and his family. Luis left a large imprint on so many hearts in our community. He carried love, laughter, integrity and generosity with him everywhere he went.
Luis's father's passion for soccer and family was instilled in him from an early age. While attending Turlock High, he was invited to play soccer abroad in Europe. After he graduated high school, he continued his passion of soccer by playing on several teams and ultimately, Academica Soccer Club was where he belonged. After his dad's passing, Luis found the soccer field to be his therapy, and passion. In more recent years, he found his greatest joy on the field as he coached and watched all three of his children master the sport he loved so dearly. He found his purpose in coaching the youth in our community, helping them excel to countless championships.
Luis was also known as the guy to call when something needed to be done. Every dairyman had him on speed dial to call at any time of day or night for all types of repairs and dairy maintenance. He built his own business, Silveira's Maintenance Service, after working for other local dairy companies. His dependability and honesty was well known throughout the Central Valley's dairy and farming community. He was also the guy to call outside of work. From fundraisers to volunteering, watching sports to mentoring, Luis showed up.
Of all the things Luis loved the most, nothing came close to the love he had for his family. He married the love of his life, Debbie Coelho, August 21, 2004 and went on to raise three amazing children with her; Kaelyn, Kurtis and Kimmie. His favorite place was anywhere they were-whether it was showing at the fair, playing soccer, dancing or simply having them on his lap watching the Cowboys. This man shined brightest when he was standing behind them, holding each of them in his arms. He carried a love for his children, always present and proud of each of them.
We continue to feel his presence as we strive to carry on with his mission, especially for the youth, his passion for soccer, and his tangible love of friends and family in his honor. Luis was a friend to all. He was brother to all.
Luis is survived by his beloved wife Debbie, children Kaelyn, Kurtis, Kimberly; his mother Ermezinda, sisters Fatima and Teresa (Gilbert); mother-in-law Maria Coelho; sister-in-law Christina Avila (Adelino, Andrew & Aleece); brother-in-law Steve (Jennifer, Megan, Michael) and god parents Viviana Machado and Joe Paul Oliveira. He is preceded in death by his father Manuel Silveira, father-in-law Joe Coelho and his grandparents.
The Silveira Family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have helped in countless ways. In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that you consider a monetary gift to the Silveira Family for the future education of Luis's children.
