Maria J. Faria

Maria Alice Jorge Faria of Hilmar, California "Entered into Rest", at the age of 83 on Monday, May 13, 2013, surrounded by her family. Maria was born in Salão, Faial, Açôres and immigrated to California in 1968 with her family.

She was a beloved wife of 60 years to her late husband, Joe Faria. A mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She lived her life with love and compassion for her family. Maria was a homemaker and especially enjoyed, gardening, crocheting feeding and raising her animals and spending time with her family. Maria is survived by nine children, Joe, Manuel, Tony, Carlos, Luis, Eddie, Maria, Cathy, John and their spouses; along with her 16 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and Sister; Edwina Jorge Gomes of Faial, Açôres. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hilmar, Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock and S.P.R.S.I. Council No.114 of Stevinson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock. Rosary will be on Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Ave., Turlock. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
