Ramona Subia Sanchez age 97, of Turlock, California, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, February 16, 2025. She was born in Solomon, Arizona, to Mauricia Carrasco and Pedro Subia.
Ramona was a woman of many talents and passions. Ramona had a love for gardening, finding peace and joy in nurturing her plants and creating a beautiful garden. She was also a gifted seamstress, lovingly making clothing for her children, each piece crafted with care and attention to detail.
Ramona was an avid fan of Little House on the Prairie, finding comfort in watching the show, which reminded her of simpler times. A devout Catholic, she attended Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock every Sunday for many years until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
She loved making homemade jam and was a strong believer in the power of homeopathic remedies, which she used to maintain her vitality and youthful spirit throughout her life.
Ramona is survived by her children: Jesse Sanchez, Frank Sanchez, Martha Hernandez, Gloria Andrade, and Barbara Dominguez, all of Turlock; Richard Sanchez (Gabby) of Livingston; Theresa Barcelos of Hilmar; and Christine Leal (Monico) of Washington. She also leaves behind 145 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren to honor her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio "Tony" Sanchez; her daughter, Lupe De La Torre; her father, Pedro Subia; her mother, Mauricia Carrasco; and her siblings: Marcelina Apodaca, Mariana Cruz, Lorenzo Subia, Alvina Ochoa and Mauricia Karnosky.
Ramona’s family will remember her as a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation for Ramona will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, California 95380.
