Augusto Ferro was born on August 18, 1928, in Sandiego de los Banos, Cuba. He was the Oldest of 4 children of parents Norberto and Eugenia Ferro. He enjoyed life in the country and grew strong in character and faith. He later married Librada Zaida Pinero, and their son Valentin Augusto Ferro was born in December of 1961.
To make a better life for his family he brought them to America in 1968 and settled in Union City, New Jersey. After working a few odd jobs, Augie opened up the coffee shop named "The Sugar Bowl." He spent his life working for his family to live the American dream. His hard work and loyalty have been felt throughout the generations.
He is survived by his son, Valentin Augusto Ferro, grandchildren, Virginia Ferro O'Malley (Jesse), and (great-grandchild coming in December), Michael Valentin Ferro (Romie), and (great-grandson Vincent Valentin Ferro), William Augusto Ferro (Julia), and (great-granddaughter Isabella Ferro coming in September)
His dreams of making a better life in America and all the way to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, have unquestionably come true. Just as the name "Ferro" means "iron." Augie’s strength will be carried on throughout his resilience to the end.
A visitation for Augusto will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, with the Celebration of Life Service following at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, located at 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. Augie will be laid to rest at Memory Hill Gardens.
