David Gunn Pradat

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Pradat and Mr. and Mrs. Marion G. Gillespie, as well as his mother, Jane Gillespie Pradat.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Byars Pradat; his children, Parker, Lucie, and Gunny Pradat; his father, The Rev. Ray Pradat; and brothers, Bill Pradat (Sallie) and Paul Pradat (Angie). He is also survived by his in-laws, Walter and Mickey Byars; Debbie Byars Patterson (David); Ryland Byars (Teresa) and Baxter Byars; and many cousins, aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews.

David was born in Meridian, Mississippi, and the family moved to Tuscaloosa in 1973. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School, attended The University of Alabama, and graduated from Tallahassee Community College. David began his career in construction following college with Wyatt Construction in Birmingham. He was employed by Price McGiffert Construction and Harper Chambers Lumber Co. prior to starting David Pradat Construction. David joined N.C. Morgan Construction in 2003 as a Construction Superintendant. He was active in Holy Spirit Regional Catholic School, Alabama Grand Slammers, and Tuscaloosa Moose Family center #804.

Honorary pallbearers are Robbie Wyatt, J.C. Hunter, Bob Martin, Jeff Hipp, Lewis Abston, Jim Phifer, Russ Lewis, Bill Boyd, Lance Jackson, Judy Mills and the kitchen staff of the Kappa Alpha Order, the members of the Alabama Grand Slammers, the members of the Tuscaloosa Moose Family Center #804, and employees of N.C. Morgan Construction.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Christ Episcopal Church with The Rev. David Meginniss and The Rev. Dr. Catherine Collier officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at the church. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is directing.

The family would like to thank the staff of DCH Regional Medical Center's ACCU and the staff of the Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the David Pradat Medical and Family Assistance Fund at Regions Bank, Skyland Branch or the charity of one's choice.
