Eddie had a great passion for God and his country. He served as a member of the United States Army and Army National Guard and retired as Staff Sergeant (E6) in July 2001. He proudly served in Vietnam and was stationed around the world until returning to Alabama. He devoted 30 years as an employee to GAF Elk Roofing from 1981 until his retirement in 2011. He was a faithful member of Ruhama Baptist Church in Peterson, AL. He studied the Bible faithfully and obtained an Associates of Biblical Studies from Andersonville Theological Seminary in April 2010.
This shy, country boy from Duncanville met the love of his life in 1968 at Tuscaloosa County High School but it wasn’t until 1990, when his son Eddie introduced him to his girlfriend Michelle and her mom Dorothy that he finally got to tell her how he felt. They married on July 24, 1992, and made 30 years of memories together traveling, camping, and spending time together with family. She is forever his “Boogey Bear.” Pop will be missed by us all.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Josh Hawkins, Cameron Travis, Glenn Hawthorne, Josh Lynch, and Mike Price.
In honor of Eddie, please be sure to thank a Veteran every chance you get. He always did.
