

COTTONDALE - Elizabeth Rutledge, age 83, of Cottondale, Ala., went to be with her Lord July 28, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama after a long illness of Dementia/Alzheimer’s. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Memory Chapel with Bro. Daniel Arsenault and Bro. Herb Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Rutledge; mother, Ovie Syring; sisters, Myrtice Higginbotham and Bernice Brown.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Christian of Cottondale, Judy Wyatt of Moundville and Marilyn Fanning of Cottondale.
Elizabeth was a retired LPN. She retired from Bryce Hospital with 25 years of service. She was a long-time member of Cottondale Baptist Church.
Mommy loved music and enjoyed trips to Nashville before she got so sick. Mom loved dogs, cats, just animals period! Our nickname for Mom was Mrs. Doolittle! Another thing she liked to do was watch the beautiful red birds that landed on her birdfeeder.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Branyon, Jason Walters, Matthew Fanning, Clark Fanning, Patrick Fanning and Michael Higginbotham.
Honorary pallbearers are Circlewood Baptist Church, Dr. Gordon McCammon – of Nashville, Winifred Doss, Val Shirley, Bobby & Flora Martin, Dexter Lowery (Linda), Margaret Blankenship, Susan Hubbard, Sharon Darrington, friends and neighbors of Norris Circle, Janie Moses, Oma Miller, Dr. Scott Fulgham and staff and Dr. Joseph Fritz.
Donations may be made in memory of Elizabeth to Hospice of West Alabama.
