Enyeart Myers Arnold, 91, of Memphis, TN, formerly of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away with his family at his bedside on Monday, February 15, 2021 in Memphis. An afternoon graveside service, with Reverend Brannon Pinion officiating, followed by a reception will be held at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, March 14th at 2:00.
E.M. (as he was known to most of his friends) was born on February 3, 1930. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a Sergeant in the 12th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a home builder in Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area for many years and was later employed at Drummond Coal Company, Kellerman, AL. E.M. was a active member of Fairview Wesleyan Church and Rosedale Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa and of Audubon Park Baptist Church in Memphis.
E.M. was known for his devotion to his wife and family, especially his grandchildren Gray and Sally--never missing a game, a performance, or a carpool pickup time. He was generous, kind, always willing to listen, and could repair whatever needed fixing. He enjoyed hunting and fresh and saltwater fishing for many years, and never lost his love of training a good dog. He had a rich baritone voice, and it was a joy to sing with him, whether in the pew next to him during Sunday morning service or around the house. In later years, his favorite Saturdays were spent with his family watching the Crimson Tide play football and enjoying a plateful of Memphis wings.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Iver Lee; his daughter, Karen Arnold Clark; granddaughter, Sally Clark; grandson, Gray Clark; brother-in-law, J.P. Ray (Lou); nieces Beth Ray, Connie Miller (Adger “Bubba”), and Cindy Stiles ; nephews Ron Arnold, Jeff Ray (Jennifer), and David Reese (Darcy). He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Mary Suvella (Morrison) Arnold, Sr.; his brother John C. Arnold, Jr. (Patricia), and his sister Doris Arnold Reese (Almer).
Honorary pallbearers are Nina Jones; Betty Cummins; William Laurie; Steven Meeker, Jr.; Whitney Ziegenhorn; Phillip and Marie Hoggle; Morris and Bobbie Smithson; Maurice and Eva Rainey; Leonard and Mary Smith; and Don Terry.
