

Floyd Bennett Whaley, 92 of Tuscaloosa, AL., passed away at his home on Thursday, June 8th, 2023. Services will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, June 16th, 2023 @ 2:00pm with Pastor Rick Mitchell presiding. Burial will follow in Memory Hills Garden with Memory Chapel directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. He is preceded in death by his wife Jean (Elliott) Whaley; Parents: James Edgar and Ruby Whaley; Brothers: Elmer Whaley & Leo Whaley; Sisters: Myrtle Lee Whaley & Louise Harper Wheat. He is survived by his four daughters: Wanda Sanders Davis (Jessie) of Northport; Crystal Houston (Johnny) of Coker; Tonya Britt (Greg) of Northport and Tammy Hamner (Ray) of Akron.
Grandchildren: Valerie Webb (Doug), Brandon Houston, Daniel Hamner (Ashley), Caylan Hamner (Kristen), Zachary Britt, Alicia Averett (John), Alexi McAteer (Brian). Great-Grandchildren: Brylin Houston, Cade Hamner, Hunter Hamner, Rylei Hamner, Riggs Hamner, Luther Averett, Bodhi Averett, John Whaley Averett, Adison Webb, Collin Webb. Sisters: Lola B Harper of Greensboro; Sister-in-law Reba Whaley of Prattville; Brother-in-law James Jackson of Hanceville. A host of nieces and nephews. Dada, as he was affectionately known, was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved studying The Word of God. He supported many ministries financially helping to reach the lost. He served in the Korean War from January 1950 to October 1952 followed by The National Guard from October 1952 until June 25th, 1959, when he was Honorably discharged. For over 30 years he worked at Reichhold Chemical Plant. After his retirement he loved working in the garden and spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Honorary pallbearers are Dr John Warren, Tuscaloosa Internal Medicine, MedCenter South, Rev. Tom Wilson, Members of Forest Lake Baptist Church, Neighbors of the Holt Community prior to the 2011 tornado and to all family and friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons Brandon Houston, Daniel Hamner, Caylan Hamner, Zachary Britt; Great-grandsons Brylin Houston and Cade Hamner.
