George Scott Hoggle- to many, he was Scott, but to those closest to him, he was simply “Hogg”. He graduated with the Class of 1978 from Brookwood High School, where he proudly served as a pitcher on the baseball team. His 10th-grade English teacher said he was the sweetest teenager and a favorite student. To this day, she calls him “The Most Wonderful Man in the World”. Family and friends quickly came to know the truth of this statement. Scott spent weekends driving his ’55 Chevrolet around Coaling, visiting friends and sharing candy. He had a passion for Classic Hot Rods, Western shows, wrestling, baseball cards, and classic rock like ZZ Top. He loved to work on his pride and joy- his 1960 Studebaker Lark – always finding peace and purpose under the hood. For more than 30 years, he was a dedicated welder at Southeast Fabricators, pouring his skill and energy into his work to provide for the family he loved so deeply. His life may have been cut short by a Glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumor, but even in his final days, Scott’s selfless spirit never wavered. As Rocky best put it, “It ain’t about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done." That was Scott-tough, determined, and full of heart, no matter the odds.
