

.DUNCANVILLE – Ruby Jacqueline ""Jackie"" West, age 72, of Duncanville, Ala, died July 31, 2016. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016, at East McFarland Baptist Church with Bro. Doug Reeves and Bro. Chad Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Duncanville Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, August 3, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Seale West; parents, Orian and Iva Cook; sister, Elizabeth Hubbard; and brother, Larry Cook. Survivors include her daughter, Tammy West Schryer (Kip) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sons, Todd West of Duncanville, Ala. and David West (Tina L.) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sisters, Patricia Rackley (Johnny) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Mary Alice Cook of Duncanville, Ala.; brothers-in-law, Johnny Hubbard, Wade West (Gail) and L. D. Barger; grandchildren, Garrett West, Caleb West Hannah Schryer, Austin Schryer, Stacia West and Luke West; and great-grandchildren, Addy Rae West and Ava Scott West. She was born and raised in Duncanville, Ala. She was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School Class of 1962 and retired from the University of Alabama. She was the most loving and kind-hearted Nana, mom and sister. She loved everyone that she came in contact with and would do anything for anyone. She was one of the most Godly women, had the sweetest spirit and loved her ""best friend"" Jesus more than anything. She was spunky, full of energy and lit up a room like no one else could. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and even though our hearts are breaking, we know she is having such a glorious time in Heaven right now. She was a Nana to some, Mrs. Jackie to others, but loved by all. Pallbearers will be Barry Rackley, Tim Hubbard, Jeff West, Paul Dockery, Homer Dockery, Michael Hoggle and Jimmy Jones.Honorary pallbearers are members of East McFarland Baptist Church, Ladies Sunday School Class II, Ladies Dominoes Gang, friends and neighbors of Duncanville community, DCH Cancer Center, Drs. Tucker and Dubay and nurses and staff of DCH MICU.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to East McFarland Baptist Church Building Fund.
