A native of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, he was the oldest child of James Samuel Dunn and Neva Evans Dunn. He worked as an Operations Manager, and retired from Campbell and Associates, General Contractors. Mr. Dunn was the Patriarch of his family, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A wonderful teacher, he led by example always teaching the importance of God, love and family as main priorities. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spent much time in the outdoors with his son Jim. He had a productive Green Thumb, and could cultivate almost any flower, vegetable and fruit bearing tree imaginable. He loved history and his heritage, showing his pride as a member of the Sons of American Revolution and the Sons of the Confederacy. His love of history also bolstered a passion for genealogy, and the research that entailed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jane Stuart Dunn; daughter Jennifer Dunn Claborn; and sister Wanda Kay Hanson.
He is survived by his son James Stuart "Jim" (Teresa) Dunn; grandchildren: Ariel Claborn, Veronica Claborn, Donna Dunn (Chad) Pietszak, Georgia Jane Dunn and Amelia Grace Dunn and two sisters: Peggy Dunn and Teresa Hollingsworth.

A special thanks goes out to Dr. Shah and the nursing staff on 5 South East for taking such great care of Dad during his time in the hospital. What a joy to have a note from one of the nurses when I picked up his personal belongings stating what a lovely gentleman dad was and what an honor it was to care for him.
