NORTHPORT – James E. Evans, age 90, of Northport, Ala., died April 17, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Montgomery and Bro. Bruce Boswell, his grandson-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Etta Pearl and Lige Evans; three brothers, Lloyd, Armond and Lavon Evans; and two sisters, Reba Evans and Adele Dunn.Survivors include his daughter, Beth Sanford (Terry); sons, Jim Evans (Theresa) and Kemmie Evans (Connie); seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. James retired from Pullman – Standard in Bessemer after 19 years of service. He served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II and he loved Alabama football. The family would like to give a special thanks to Katherine Amire, who was his caregiver the last two years of his life.
