Jerry Carl Barger

Jerry C. Barger, age 74, of Cottondale, died February 2, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Memory Chapel with Bro. Emmett Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melborn and Norman Barger; son, Wayne Barger; and granddaughter, April Barger.Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Geraldine Barger of Cottondale; daughter, Gloria Lee (Tommy) of Echola; sisters, Joyce Johnson of Meridian, Miss. and Elaine Harveer of Fulton; brother, Willard Barger of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Mark Alsobrooks (Wendy), Jason Alsobrooks (Lynn) and Buck Barger (Kala), all of Cottondale; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of 56 years. He was retired from Waste Management. He also loved his Alabama football!Pallbearers will be Jason Alsobrooks, Tommy Lee, Buck Barger, Dustin Brewer, Bobby Pope, and Jeremy Pope.Honorary pallbearers are Mark Alsobrooks, DCH Home Health Care, First United Pentecostal Church, LifePoint Church of God and friends and neighbors of the Cottondale community.
