

Jerry V. Williams, Sr., age: 69, of Northport, Ala., passed away on June 01, 2010, due to complications from pneumonia and emphysema at Northport DCH. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Virgil Williams and Evelyn and Luther Cook, his grandparents, H.H. and Jesse Williams, and Clayton and Myrtle Hoover.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years: Myra Williams, his daughters: Tina (Rick) Piel and Rene' Jones as well as Jerry's son and name sake: Jerry “Virgil” (Stacy) Williams, Jr. His brother: Tommy (Debbie) Williams, Special Son: Mike Jones, His Grandchildren: Seth, Terron, and Shelby Channell, Jordan and Preston Jones, Colby and Lauren Richardson and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was born on April 23, 1941, in Jefferson County, he live in Tuscaloosa most of his life. He was an avid bowler and was a member of several leagues throughout the years, he also spent many years coaching little league sports at the YMCA, he truly loved working with all the young men he coached. He was a Business man who owned his own hardware store then he went on to work for several companies throughout the years. His last job was as a news carrier for the Tuscaloosa News which he truly loved doing. He was a loving Husband, Father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will greatly missed and loved by all who knew him. Jerry has gone on to a better place and we know he is with our Father in Heaven.
Pallbearers will be Rick Piel, Mike Jones, Jim Jayne, Adam Williams, Dane Yarborough and Nathan Long.
