John Stephen Sexton

John Stephen Sexton, age 58, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died January 14, 2018, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Sexton; mother, Jean C. Arnold; sister, Teresa J. Sexton; and nephew, John Bradley Thrasher.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashlei McCormick of Gulf Shores; sons, Clay Sexton of Tuscaloosa and Luke Sexton of Gulf Shores; and sister, Renae Thrasher of Northport.

His life was spent enjoying a free spirit and living it to the fullest. Never was a time to where he would allow his passions to take 2nd whether it was watching football with friends, taking a ride on 2 wheels, fishing fresh and salt waters, living life 200 mph at Talladega or just relaxing by the campfire with those closest to his heart.

Someone once said, "the days are long, but the years are short." He left this world sailing away on an ocean of tears, but sail he did, in the sunset of a better day that has come. He will certainly be missed by his family and countless number of friends. ""Rock On!" Steve.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Lann, Kevin Lann, Ken Potts, Steve Holman, Kevin Lancaster, David Sherrill, Forrest Mullins and Robert Potts.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff of DCH Regional Medical Center ICU and Lewis Manderson Cancer Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center.
