Skip was born on November 17, 1945, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he had the opportunity to grow up with his parents and grandparents (Lonnie Joseph and Myrtle Hunt Langston) who owned and operated Hunt Farms on the campus of the University of Alabama. Skip was a member of Troup 14 Boy Scouts of America sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church where he achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Skip was a proud graduate of Tuscaloosa High School where he excelled as a running back for the Black Bears. He continued his football career as a wide receiver at The University of Alabama under Coach Bryant. He graduated with a business degree from The University of Alabama.
He owned Cannon Company, a real estate brokerage and construction venture. In retirement, he worked at his dream job. If you go to Ol’ Colony Golf Course, you will see evidence of Skip’s pride, hard work and dedication to make sure that everyone had the best possible experience.
Skip was a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi University Parish. His hobbies included being an avid dog-trainer, field trial judge, and all-around sportsman. Skip knew his way around any type of gun, four-wheeler, golf club, or gadget you could ever find.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his beloved Ol’ Colony Golf Course in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The family will begin to greet friends at 11:00am, with Rev. Gerald Holloway officiating the ceremony at 11:30am at the First-Tee Pavilion.
The outdoor setting we have chosen for the celebration of life prohibits delivery of flowers. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ol’ Colony Golf Course or Boy Scouts of America in honor of Skip.
