Joseph Everett McCool, age 88, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 27, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 12 noon Tuesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Fred Schuckert officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Lee McCool; daughter, Vicki Cox; and sons, William Edward "Eddie" Cox, Major James Keith Cox, and Gordon Ray Cox.
Joseph E. McCool Jr. retired from the United States Air Force as Lieutenant Colonel after serving 23 years. His tours included service in England, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, Okinawa, Guam, Hawaii, Philippines, March Field, Ft. Worth, Randolph, Spokane, and Vance AFB. He was married to Lee McCool for 39 years and was stepfather to William Edward Cox, James Keith Cox, Jack Gregory Cox (deceased), Gordon Ray Cox, and Vicki Cox. He was grandfather to 11 grandchildren. He will have a full military ceremony.
