Laura Frances Porter Sturdivant Colebert

Laura Frances Porter Sturdivant Colbert, age 86, of Moundville, Ala., died November 2, 2015, at Moundville Health and Rehab Nursing Home. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Memory Hill Gardens. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Porter.Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Kornegay; her sons, Dennis Sturdivant, David Sturdivant (Pam), Dana Sturdivant (AnnMarie) and Chris Colbert (Vicki); her brothers, Wayne Porter, Larry Porter, Burney Porter and Barney Porter; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Laura was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where she volunteered to do the church correspondence. She enjoyed FOCUS and loved her friends in quilters. She was a passionate and talented artist, loving mother and dear friend. She will be missed. Her family is deeply grateful to Moundville Health and Rehab. She called Moundville her ""home"" and considered the staff family. They encouraged her artwork and she entered and won the cover contest for NHS Management 2014. They also used her nativity scene for last year's Christmas card. We thank them for their kindness in her final years. May God bless and keep her always in his tender loving care. Pallbearers will be Eric Kornegay, John Sturdivant, Daniel Sturdivant, Matthew Sturdivant, Adam Sturdivant, Joshua Sturdivant and Jesse Kornegay.
