Louise McCary Hallman

Louise McCary Hallman, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Heritage Healthcare Nursing Home. A service to celebrate her life will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service.She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rudy Hallman; daughter, Jill Hallman Jones; parents, John S. McCary and Alma Ray McCary; brother, John McCary; and sister, Ruthie McCary.Survivors include daughter, Jan Hallman Ferguson; son, William ""Randy"" Hallman (Anita); granddaughters, Dara Ferguson White (Justin) and Tiffany Michaela Jones; and sisters, Mary McCary and Kathleen Walker.She was a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa and active member of South Highlands Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She retired from McAbee Construction. She was active in many civil organizations. She was a member and officer of The Tuscaloosa League of Business and Professional Women (BPW) for many years. She served as a volunteer at DCH Regional Medical Center.She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus, her family and her many friends. She was always smiling and loved to laugh, and she never met a stranger. She was known as ""Emmy"" to her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, hosting, and shopping. She always enjoyed going to the ""Camp"" with her family and special friends.Pallbearers will be Justin White, Scottie McCray, Jeff Hallman, Edwin Seale, Mark Lawrence, and Freddie Hallman. Honorary pallbearers include past members of South Highlands Baptist Church, Leroy McAbee Sr., and employees of McAbee Construction, members of Friends Forever group, the staff of Capstone Village and Heritage Healthcare, Dr. Regina Harrell, Marvin ""Bud"" and Mickie Fleming, Walter and Nellie Garner, and Lloyd ""Noot"" McCray. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Safe Haven Church Project EXCEL.
