

TUSCALOOSA | Mary Emma Drummond Wade, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, April 26, 2014. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Heritage Chapel with Bro. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ephraim and Stella Drummond; her husband, John Wade; and her daughter, Sharon Carruth; her brothers, George Drummond and Cecil Drummond; and sister, Lois Drummond. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Wade Whitbeck of Tuscaloosa; son, Jeff Wade (Susan) of Tuscaloosa; son-in-law, Richard Carruth of Cottondale; brothers, Sam Drummond of Picayune, Miss. and Curtis Drummond (Dot) of Valparaiso, Ind.; grandchildren, Amy Carruth Wyatt (Chad) of Moundville, Meredith Whitbeck Allgood (Michael) of Northport, Stefanie Whitbeck Newberry (Gene) of Tuscaloosa, Alan Carruth (Christine) of Cottondale, and Blake Wade of Tuscaloosa; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Wyatt and Carlie Carruth. Mary Emma grew up in Ralph, Ala. She moved to Tuscaloosa to complete Perry Business College. She worked at Pizitz and later was the bookkeeper for Rick's Hardware for many years until she retired. She was a devoted wife for 53 years and a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to travel, bowl, shop, and took pride in growing beautiful flowers. She was dearly loved and we will greatly miss our "Mommy Wade."Pallbearers will be Blake Wade, Alan Carruth, Chad Wyatt, Caleb Wyatt, Michael Allgood, and Gene Newberry.Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, Joy Sunday School class, Dr. Gross, Dr. Summerford, nurses and staff of 6th Floor at DCH Regional Medical Center, special caregivers: Loyace Rezendez, Lilly Lewis, Holli Maxwell and many other special friends and neighbors.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Open Door Baptist Church General Fund.Condolences may be offered at www.heritagechapeltuscaloosa.com.
